Candlelight Vigils Across Pennsylvania
Please Join Us! Drawing on the success of last year, the Alzheimer’s Association Chapters in PA are once again holding Candlelight Vigils. The Candlelight Vigils are intended to honor those dealing with dementia, to remember those who have passed on after living with dementia, and to recognize the incredible efforts of their caregivers and family members. Last year, the Vigils where a momentum builder for our Legislative Day in Harrisburg. We are planning to hold them in late April, early May. The vigils will be held on the same day throughout the different chapters. They will serve as preparation for the National Public Policy Forum in Washington D.C. In addition, we hope to increase awareness of the budget process, as that time is key for negotiation, and we need your help.’ The times and dates for the Vigils have yet to be determined for 2004:
Erie Area Please attend one of the Vigils and participate by honoring and remembering the individuals touched by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Kristen Ballantine at 1-800-652-3370. Thank you, and please bring your family members and friends for this special evening.
Each spring, the National Association holds a Public Policy Forum in Washington, D.C. The 17th Annual Alzheimer's Association Public Policy Forum will be held April 30 - May 2005. Open to the public, the Forum brings together care partners, persons with Alzheimer's disease, friends, health professionals, and other advocates with diverse experiences and distinctive voices. The Forum offers advocates the opportunity to hone their advocacy skills, network with peers, and talk with their representatives on Capitol Hill. All have a shared vision and goals: to raise awareness about Alzheimer's, to advance research, and to enhance care and support for those with the disease and their care partners.
